Mexico is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, and there are plenty of options when it comes to accommodations. We’ve all seen pricey all-inclusive resorts that promise to deliver the ultimate in luxury. However, there are many benefits to renting a villa instead, and at Agave Villas, we know we can find the right villa for your needs, immersing you in the beauty of Mexican culture and providing many of the same amenities as resorts.
Advantages of Renting a Villa
A More Authentic Mexican Experience
In a resort geared to tourists, you’re experiencing Mexico through the eyes of a visitor. When you rent a villa, you’re staying in a real Mexican home surrounded by locals, and you’ll receive a more authentic cultural experience as a result.
More Space
Why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can rent an entire property? This is especially relevant to larger groups, where space is at a premium.
Privacy
On your own private rental property, you can have as much privacy as you want, and you won’t have to share any common areas—such as pools or lounge areas—with other guests.
Flexibility
Resorts have their own schedules and don’t encourage you to explore outside; after all, they want you to spend more of your time and money there! With a villa rental, you set your own schedule and can come and go as you please. Agave Villas’ personal concierges are available before and after your trip to guide you and help you make all of the arrangements you need to make your vacation one you will never forget.
Types of Properties for Rent
Condos
Often part of gated communities, high-end condos are the most common type of rentals available.
Casas and Villas
Casas and villas are detached family homes with their own land, typically in a residential neighborhood. They can also be a part of gated communities or situated on a private street. They typically include daily housekeeping as well as kitchen staff to prepare meals.
Estates
These are large properties, sometimes on multiple lots, with a full staff included (such as a butler, housekeepers, gardening, maintenance staff, etc.) They are the highest caliber of property in Mexico’s rental market.
Things to Consider When Renting a Villa in Mexico
Location and amenities
Not all villas feature the same amenities. If you prefer to have all the modern amenities—like high-speed internet and access to municipal water—at your fingertips, consider renting in a major city. However, rural properties often have the most beautiful landscapes and fantastic views. You can also get the best of both worlds when you rent a property that’s outside the city but within easy driving distance.
Time of year
During Mexico’s high season (December to April), prices will be higher than at other times of the year. Because many owners book their rentals by late summer, you should book in advance for the best selection, especially if you plan to visit during the holidays.
Noise bylaws
Many neighborhoods have noise bylaws that prohibit loud noise (such as music) past a certain hour. If you plan on having large parties, consider a rental in a neighborhood with looser restrictions.
